For this introductory assignment I chose to produce a video, since I had Final Cut Pro software and had really never made the time to learn it. I also used Vocaroo.com to record my voice from my laptop, Canva.com to make the introductory, learning theories infographic and other image-intense slides, and finally Power Point for the the bullet point slides. I have a good store of royalty free music that I was able to make use of to find appropriate (appropriate to me, anyway) background music.
It took a lot more time than I anticipated to learn the basics of the video editing software, but I've no regrets, since I now have the confidence to use it. I taught myself primarily through google searches whenever there was something I wanted to do but did not know how. YouTube instruction videos proved invaluable.
Some interesting (to me) tidbits I learned through the process of making my video:
PPT slides are best exported as TIFF images before uploading to FCP (Final Cut Pro).
YouTube videos have a close-to 16:9 ratio (I had to redo all my slides at one point because I was working in the default 4:3 ratio in PPT).
Audio quality works best in WAV format. The MP3 version is only for the final export.
It is very useful in the long run to take the time required to learn short-cut keys for certain apps.
I have some fears about putting myself out there (onto YouTube).
